Well, I *do* have six packages of TimTams in the freezer at home. Were you thinking Original, Special Dark, or Caramel?

I haven't the foggiest. Special Dark *sounds* good.

Now I'm hungry! :-)

Yeah, the Special Dark are my favorite type of TimTams. Very nice, smooth dark chocolate. It's good to have friends in the State Department sometimes...

Let's see if this works...

Darn, my system's having trouble receiving that file. gunzip keeps saying it can't find it. Hmmm... it also "doesn't know how to make TimTams". ;-)

Oh heck, wouldn't you know that file was compiled with a beta test version of the gcc compiler...

I 'spose I could deliver a demo in firmware...

Next time you're on the left coast? I hate having to MAIL or CARRY physical objects. I should just be able to zap them through my handy fiber link.

(Gak, this is reminding me of highly nerdy discussions about the latency and throughput of a street full of 18-wheelers loaded with CD-ROMs...)

One more reason for me to find an excuse to get out that way again. Let's see if I can manage something that doesn't involve 29 Palms this time.

In the meanwhile, TimTams are available by mail order. I know it's suboptimal by your criteria, but it has the advantage of possibly being faster.

I went to the bisexuals' coffee-and-socializing group last night and THERE WERE TIM-TAMS! I got to eat TWO! With hot tea pulled through 'em!

I was very surprised at how quickly they disintegrated once they were wet. Maybe the Evil Witch made them ;-).

I also learned that there is an "Australia Store" in San Jose where these things are available! Woohoo!

So what brought you to 29 Palms? (What's out there, anyway? I have heard of it only because there's an airport.)

I'm smiling like an idjit reading about your first experience with TimTams. They're wonderful little treats, aren't they?

29 Palms is the home of the Marine Corps Air-Ground Taskforce Training Command (http://www.29palms.usmc.mil/). I've spent many a deployment there, freezing in the winter and broiling in the summer, as we practiced the techniques of desert warfare along the Delta Corridor.

The last time I was there was 92, when we did an interesting Joint Operation with III Army Corps and 29th Air Force. Since I retired from the Corps in 95, it would take a recall to duty to get me back out there. (That's not impossible, I knew 17 retirees who got called back for the Gulf War.)

But trust me, Tim Tams are a much more pleasant topic.
