I'd say smorgasbord but I'm too lazy to go find the right character to cut and paste.

You mean the empty set? Is that the one in that word? ;-)

I knew a Dane in college of whom I asked the question once what that symbol means, and his response was, "It means 'you can't pronounce this!'" So it truly is the empty set, even linguistically. :-)

I can't help myself; I always obsess about such characters when I run into them. I even have a table of them in my Palm for handy reference. Now I see that I can also obsess over them when someone else runs into them! I'm incorrigible!

This HTML character code reference page (http://www.tntluoma.com/sidebars/codes/) gives: ø => ø

OK, now the wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smorgasbord) informs me that the correct spelling is smørgåsbord. (had to dig up the å too!)

Thanks for the housing article. Forwarded it to my husband who likes to read up on the housing bubble.

We are waiting for it to fall so we can get a bigger space. We'll never lose any real money on ours, so it's just a question of not getting something way overpriced and watching it fall.

Thank you for posting the stem cell article! The promise of all types of stem cells (both embryonic and not) is so spectacular -- it's exciting to see it beginning to pay off!

Ayup!

If you've sent me mail since last Weds., I haven't yet dug through the pile of vacation-accumulated spam to find it. That's this evening's task ;-).

See you on Saturday!
