Friends Lists

I've noticed that people on LJ sometimes ASK ME if they can put me on their Friends list. I don't really understand why putting someone on a Friends list would need permission, unless people don't trust the LJ privacy/security features, but enough people ask that I'm getting worried. I don't want to step on any toes! So if you're on my Friends list already, and if ever you want to be off it, just holler.

Yeah, I agree. I had a similar sense of confusion when you asked me I minded your adding me to your friends list, as well. (No, of course not; I don't mind at all.)

The only thing I can think of is a concern that folks might not want to have their entries getting further distribution on the other people's friends pages. But really, if that was as an issue, the entries should have been marked as private or friends-only in the first place.
