I don't want to give up square dancing. I don't want to.

This foot thing has been an adventure, and I've learned a lot, but I'm ready for it to be over now.

Oh CJ, I know. I know the dancing means a lot to you, and I keep hoping that *something* will work for you, to get you past this pain in the feet problem that has plagued you.

*nod*. It wouldn't be so bad if there were painkillers that worked...

"Okay, I've been tried, tested, challenged, learned through suffering, humbled, uplifted, and endured that which cannot be overcome. So take away this damn gom jabbar, huh?"

Yeah, that! Gah.

Whiney today. I'm going through the grief process in slow motion, I suspect.

*hugs* I know. I'll keep up hope for you not to have to give that up. Something has to work sometime.

Thanks. If painkillers worked, I'd just be taking fistfuls of those, but they don't.

Well, maybe that's not true any more. I think the swelling's worse lately but the nerve oversensitivity is maybe a little lower... in which case maybe painkillers might work now. Haven't tried lately.

Well, the fact is that you don't have to give up square dancing entirely. You just might have to give up standing on your feet, and maybe have to drop level a bit.

But, there are people in wheel chairs who do this stuff. You can continue to call. Yeah, you might have to give up tough C4, and you might have to learn a whole new set of cheats :-) , but it is do-able.

Of course, it might mean that you're giving up the very things that make square dancing enjoyable, so it would no longer be fun.

On another topic, I heard about some airplane that is flown completely by hand controls (no foot pedals).

Some people I was talking to this evening mentioned that possibility. I'd have to get a huge whole lot better at maneuvering that chair!

Oddly enough, driving doesn't seem to hurt it -- I can press with toes or with my arch. I suspect airplane pedals are the same. ("Toe brakes", for me, really are TOES. Some people are tall enough it's the ball of the foot, but I will never have that problem.) :-)

I'm ready for your foot thing to be over, too. I think that you have learned enough and experienced enough there, and that your foot (foots, feets) should now feel fine.

Please get better.

*nod* yeah. :( I hope I do get better.

Thanks. My fingers are crossed -- since that's about the only thing I haven't tried yet. :)

thinking: . . . o O (If you want some of us could try a religious approach to your problem...)

I would gladly accept, with thanks.

I only hope your feet agree... and are ready for it to be over soon (in the right meaning of 'over', of course). *hugsifwelcome*

Exactly -- I'm not quite ready for my feet to give up and die on me! ;-)

*hugsback*
