Physical therapist taped the hell out of my feet again Wednesday morning, and that felt so darn good I kept it on until last night. At that point, the toes that should have been numb after my neuroma treatments were actually slightly numb. Whoooooaaa.
There seems to be a tradeoff between pain from the tightness of the tape and pain from walking when the tape isn't tight enough. Often I'll take scissors to the edge of the tape where it's cutting deeply into my skin, and with a small snip I can release the worst of the pressure but keep most of the stability. How I feel with the tape on gives me the first ray of hope I've had in a long time.
(That stuff takes a while to dry after a shower!)
I wonder if you can get arrested and thrown into rehab for a sports tape addiction. Taaaaape, taaaaaaaaape, must have more taaaaaaaaaaaape...

I wish I knew the name of my taping procedure so I could google it. One PT said it to the other once in my hearing, and that's it. I'll ask. It does seem pretty simple though: big band around the middle of the foot.

When I was in competitive gymnastics when I was very young many of the teenagers had to tape parts of their bodies daily.
I also know that taping is used in dance, and other sport/activities, to ensure performance when otherwise it would be impossible. I fell down stairs a couple of years ago and injured my foot very badly the week of a big show. So, I taped the shit out of my foot so I could perform on it--without the tape I would visibly wince every time I put weight on it, let alone landed mutiple leaps on it. I performed on it, but was so injured afterwards that I couldn't dance for nearly a year.

In other news, don't believe the tape, man. You're better than that. :)

But kidding (and talking too much) aside, that would be seriously funny. :)
