1. Nice clothing, needed for a dinner with Persons Definitely Above My Social Class. *sigh* I'm never comfortable in a setting where I can't wear what I enjoy wearing, but they're nice folks.

2. New shoes, physical therapist recommended. Ugly, of course. I'll get a phone call when they arrive.

3. New shoes, Nice. They hurt, of course. But for short periods they'll be better than the only Nice shoes I currently own. I sense a closet purge in my future.

(Speaking of purges, I cleaned out the fridge yesterday. I told Rob I'd done it. Later in the evening he opened its door and said, surprised, "Wow! The fridge!")

4. Yet another weird-ass natural remedy that probably won't help my feet. "The results aren't immediate," she cautioned. Yeah, I've heard that one before. But this goo was only $12, a small price to pay for not wondering for the rest of my life whether it would have worked.

5. Birthday gift for my mom. *SCORE*

Ugh, I've got to do a number 1 myself.

I always feel a lot better about those just after they've ended.

If I go to dinner with the same group again, I'm going to spend much more time talking to Guy With Integrity or Quiet Gracious Woman and a lot less time talking to Shrill Opinion Fountain, Name Dropper, or Talks-About-Himself.

Yep, I hear you. Fortunately, for me, this is a group I've done this with before. And there are a few people I'm quite looking forward to seeing. It's just the whole "what the hell am I going to wear to *this* one" thing. The problem is, my two nice outfits are (1) too warm for May in Cairo and (2) very distinctive and they've seen (and commented on) it before.

Think I can get away with (2) anyway?

You probably can get away with 2 anyway. I'm glad you're looking forward to seeing the people! That's the important part -- if they're good folk, they won't be snide about a repeat outfit.
