Got a plan for some exercise. Went out once. Then the rain started -- I'm truly not sure how rain-resistant this wheelchair is, so I didn't go out yesterday -- and now I'm sick! Grr! If it were just the tickle in the back of my throat I'd soldier on through, but I've got a fever, which means No Infecting The Coworkers Please. Plus fevers make me stupid. So I'm heading home this afternoon. No exercise, no getting together with coworkers this afternoon to nail down details on a chunk of work I'm supposed to do.

Bummer.

I'm almost never sick more than once within a couple of years. I wonder what I'm doing differently now. Nutrition perhaps? I bet it's at least partially the inactivity. How can I possibly be robust when I never frickin' MOVE?

I am GONNA get more exercise. I swear. Today feels like "one step forward, two steps back" but I know I'm going to kick this bug, whatever it is, and after that I can DO STUFF. Enough couch potato life.

Important Safety Tip: if fever is already causing slight headache and lightheadedness, taking Indocin is one heck of a trip. Wheee! People pay good money to amusement parks to get these sensations.

Darn! It must be going around -- I had that fever a couple of days ago!

Don't give up, my dear. You can do this!

Yours seemed like it was pretty bad. I'm glad you're on the mend.

The fever was nothing at all -- though it did last longer than I like. The stomach flu; now that hurt!! Yesterday I finally had my first real meal in over two days. I'm waiting for my second one right now, and boy does it smell good! I love the fact that I married a cook...

Yay for recovery! Yay for yummy food!

But is Great America cheaper than Indocin? Could depend on one's health insurance I imagine. :-)

Get better!

I suppose. I get a $10 copay. I don't remember how much amusement parks cost -- haven't been in years.

Thanks!

Hrmmm...Have you thought about a pilates class? I think most of the moves are on the floor. Its another option.

Long as it's not my FEET on the floor! ;-)

I'd prefer not to have to be in a class, so I could exercise when I wanted to -- but if I ever get rid of all this insane physical therapy, there might be room in the schedule for a class.

Does swimming hurt?
Friday, May 6th, 2005 12:42 am (UTC)
I don't know. It's annoying in that it needs special clothing and can really mess up my hair, but I suspect it would be an okay way to exercise if I got over that.

I have flippers that make you work harder, but I don't know if the movement would hurt you more. I know my niece gets hair treatments that keeps her hair from being damaged. (The squirt swims something insane between 3000-6000m a day.) I cut my hair because I am too lazy to dry it, but her hair goes to her butt.

Buuuuuut...there is also deep water training which you could probably avoid getting your hair wet (or mostly wet) which involves treading water and other exercises.

aw, thanks! My kitties have been very affectionate, probably because they're pleased that for once I'm home.

I would be pleased at that, too :)

Heh! My lunch consisted of the last of a packet of Swiss cheese -- shared with the skinniest of the cats. Truly, it doth not suck.
