I told my mom where my "blog" is. (I keep thinking of it as a "journal", which is why it's so full of random daily cruft.)

Maybe I'll have to enable anonymous commenting again so she can talk back to me.

So OK, while she's in the subject line: my parents are coming out to visit me in May. They'll get to meet Little Girl and visit Napa (or other places yet to be determined) and sit in the hot tub. Life's so rough. :-)

My mom's pretty tech-savvy. (Geek Brag Moment: Both my parents were systems programmers before us kids came along.) Your mom and [livejournal.com profile] rfrench's mom have a little in common though -- Mrs. F does all the books for her business on paper.

I don't think I have much left with which to shock my mom! :-)

It wasn't long after I got my mom set up with a brand-new computer and AT&T Webmail account, that I started sending her email.

No response.

So I sent her another batch of email.

No response.

A week later - ah, but you've already figured it out, haven't you? - I started receiving IBM-Selectric-typed notes via U.S. Mail from my mother. Each note responded to an email I'd sent her.

It took me two months to convince and show her (repeatedly) how to send email back to me.

My father wasn't terribly tech-savvy while he was alive, either. I have no idea where my technical abilities came from.

In fact, several people who have met my parents suggested my abilities came from either the milkman or postman. Or maybe they were just commenting on my legal status in general. I'm sure that was it.
