Fever broke this morning. (I think. Morning temps tend to be low, but 98.2 is solidly low enough to say the fever really did break, right?) Throat still hurts some -- I'm prone to that.

I'm coughing only a little, I'm not sniffling... if my throat didn't hurt I might suspect I was almost well. But the ONLY person I know of who was sick around me for the last couple weeks is Rob, and if this is what Rob had, I haven't even started the bad part. That'll be chest congestion for a couple of weeks, including a persistent deep phlegmy cough that interrupts sleep; then the fever will come back but the cough won't stop. Past that I don't know -- that's as far as Rob has gotten. He's almost exactly a month ahead of me.

Glad you're getting better!

Thanks! I hope that's what's happening! :-) (The back of my throat looks like someone walked on it with cleats. But that always happens for me, even with a teeny cold, ever since a really bad bout of Something-Or-Other when I was seventeen. So maybe that's not a bad sign, or maybe it is.)

Urk. Consider possibility of bacterial aka "walking" pneumonia (http://www.drgreene.com/21_206.html), something I've had twice and really, really wish I hadn't - if so it's not to be trifled with.

*big nod* I sure hope this isn't bacterial, although viral stuff can head towards pneumonia too -- that's why I'm being so darned careful now, because I won't be able to rest after Saturday morning.

Oh, god, I had that thing when I was still working Peterson and the temps dropped into the 30s. I was miserable, but TheraFlu helped a lot with the congestion. And lots of hot liquid. And rest, rest, rest (which I didn't get which is why I think it held on for so long).

Good health vibes heading your way.

Gah, I can imagine yours was just miserable. Ugh. Cold and dry and running your personal energy stores down to empty... not a good combo. You're better now, I take it? I hope?

I'm sure Rob's has held on this long because he hasn't rested, either. Oh, he's taking it seriously NOW, after he's been sick for just over a month and I too have succumbed and we're about to fly to Japan. But from the time he came down with it in November to the day I woke up and told him my throat had lost a fight with a Dremel tool, he basically didn't change anything.

I am sooooo hoping we get to stay in places with heat, when we're in Japan. (Some homes don't have heat.)

Glad that fever broke!! The rest should follow soon, insha'allah...

Sending you hot tea with lemon and honey, and big hugs!

Insh'allah! I do hope so. I've definitely got gunk in my chest, though.

Thanks for the "care package" -- I bet you can only imagine the amount of sore-throat-soothing tea I've been going through the last couple days!

oooh, that Throat Coat is good stuff. i like to alternate a cuppa hot tea with a glass of ice water for a sore throat. seems to freak out the nerve endings enough to quite 'em down for a bit. plus it keeps me hydrated.

hang in there, and i've got everything crossed that you stay reasonably healthy during your trip!! {{hugs}}

Thanks!

Yeah, it's excellent stuff! Oddly, I cannot abide the taste or the smell of it when I'm healthy, but when I'm sick it's nectar of the gods.

*slips lots of Throat Coat teabags into the little corners of your suitcase*

good luck on your trip! i'll be thinking of you both!

Would you believe I went out and bought two boxes of it today, to bring with me? I really did! Now if only every place I stay has tea-mugs and microwaves.
