I'm fine, thanks for asking! And it is a beautiful day. I allowed myself to get sucked into some LJ-drama (over on my journal, my most recent post) -- duh. Guess I wasn't as anxious to jump into the non-standard analysis reading I've got picked out for today as I thought I was -- lj-drama is a major procrastination technique, eh?
Taxi for the kids -- well, Mahmoud is still driving them. But I consider him on probation. Mind you, Mahmoud is *actually* driving them, so he's hanging on -- but by a thread. I'm still mad at him. He seems apologetic. We'll see. The school rebuffed my attempts to get information on the bus, which pissed me off at THEM too -- I hate the way this school refuses to give parents information, makes it hard for us to contact the kids/teachers/whatever -- I'm used to OPENNESS in my children's education, and it infuriates me when I hit the opposite attitude...
I dearly wish this foot thing WORKS for you!! What a pain that it's causing you MORE pain to begin with. Well, we'll see, eh? Is your doc on probation too? ;)
I wonder what's going on in that person's mind! What an off-the-wall response to your post.
LJ as a whole, heck the net as a whole, is a wonderful procrastination technique. I just spent the last hour herding pixies (thanks entirely to YOU for THAT one).
I hope Mahmoud behaves. My guess, of course, is that he will behave only as long as he needs to, and my cynical notion is that it's a guy thing. About the buses, I wonder how you're expected to figure out what to do about transporting your kids. Is there any other school they could attend? You've been ticked off at this school for quite a while.
Thanks for the well-wishes for my feet! I'm going to tuck them under the covers now. Night night. :)
Hey, you got me back for the pixies -- I spent a good hour yesterday dragging a little box around ...
There are plenty of other schools in Cairo. Unfortunately, they're all either (1) worse than what we're stuck with, (2) way too expensive for us, or (3) a unique and interesting combination of (1) and (2)....
Go tuck those feet in and give 'em some rest. See you in the morning! :-D Then you can tell me all about what's going on in your life. How has this foot thing affected your running? What's going on job-wise for you? What else, what else???
Isn't it horrible? Last night as I dropped off to sleep there were pixies and squares and boxes running around... I think I was past the sleep threshhold when the pixies hid my eyeglasses.
I feel for you about the school situation. Wish there were some better solution! :(
Feet better this morning. I haven't run since Christmas and am really feeling the lack. Have even started going to the gym just to do SOMEthing. I sure hope these shots work so I can run!
Job: search ongoing -- I'm giving up on my "first choice" company, or more precisely I'm not waiting around for them any more. My resume's been spiffed up and is out to a second place, and on Monday it'll reach a third place and some job-hunt websites. I still hope the first choice place is ready soon, but waiting is driving me crazy so I have to try other places.
Not much else, 'cept I get to make yummy chocolate balls this afternoon (after square dancing). The butter's softening now. Mmmmmmmmm. :)
