I don't know the original speaker at all and don't know how it was meant. What came to my mind when I read it was the Size-Related Insult War, both sides of which claim to be the only "right" size. (I hereby declare my opposition to anyone who thinks that there's only one right size.)
At first I though BOTH sides of the Size-Related Insult War would dislike that phrase. Then I thought no, wait. I bet both sides would use that one! I also bet each would quickly decry it as all kinds of judgmental if the other side used it.
(Alongside it I also saw an excellent response. I wouldn't have been half so graceful. :) )
