I was introduced to a new (new-to-me) Persian food place today. It's a little deli, not a formal restaurant, and it's quite the happening place among a group of people who do not look much like me. I saw shelves of snacks and food-preparation items that looked absolutely delicious. I found MAAMOUL date bars and cardamom tea. I found sesame brittle made with rose water. I brought a big pile of stuff to the cash register. Oh, man, I was going nuts in there.
I looked really hard for Galaxy flutes, but didn't find them. That would really have made my day!

Which? Sesame brittle? Kubideh?
"Galaxy flutes"???
Thin crunchy wafer rolled into a slender tube around some chocolate-and-hazelnut filling, then enrobed in chocolate. They come individually wrapped in hexagonal purple boxes of a gazillion, and are particularly tasty fresh out of the freezer.
I figured if I found MAAMOUL I might find Galaxy. No such luck. But I'm beginning to think I might find Galaxy somewhere in this area, if I look hard enough.

Yes. :-)
I've had something similar to Galaxy flutes, it seems - a domestic interpretation by Pepperidge Farm called "Pirouettes". They're missing the outer chocolate, though.

Another thing I didn't find was the CHIPSY (er, SHIBZEE is how it's spelled in Arabic, but they transliterate that CHIPSY) brand of potato chips. They have the niftiest flavors added: cheese, garlic, chicken broth, ... lots of stuff. Around here we get chip flavors I find annoying or boring, like onion or barbecue. I could really get addicted to the cheese chips.

There's a Middle Eastern place in Albany on Solano which has home-made pistachio locum... oooh! Your sesame brittle in rosewater sounds awesome.

Pistacio locum sounds yummy too. The sesame brittle has just a little bit of pistachio in it. Mmmmmm, Middle Eastern sweets! Delicious!
