I've been extra sensitive lately, emotionally speaking -- not necessarily in very painful ways, but more like what happens after you shave your legs for the first time in a while and there's so much more you can feel.

Maybe there's just a lot going on in my life. It seems strange to say that, since if anyone asked what I was up to I'd probably say "nothing". But when I think a bit, it's not nothing; there's the job search, of course, and a whole bunch of things to improve the house, and a big square dance calling gig coming up, and I owe more e-mail to various people than I can shake a stick at. (Hey e-mail, see this stick? Ha! So there!)

Or maybe I should just lay off the caffeine.

I find that the little niggling things, much like the little items I pick up in the dollar store, quickly add up to much, much more than I realize. When I have one or two big things to concentrate on it's easier for me to "budget" my attention and concerns, but all the little stuff can slip in "under the radar" as it were, and they add up just as surely as the big stuff. I hope things ease up for you soon.

Yes indeed, and sometimes it's harder to figure out why we're busy if nothing's showing on the radar!

Things will have to ease up for me soon, at least on the job hunt. If they don't I'll just go work for the fabric store.

Feels like alot of people I know are going thru the same thing right now including me. I hope that things get better for you.
Lots of hugs

Hey e-mail, see this stick? Ha! So there!

Marry me? Oh, wait. That wouldn't be legal, would it? ;-)

Or maybe I should just lay off the caffeine.

Nah.

Good luck on the square dance calling gig. Next weekend (3/19) I'm going off to an english country dance weekend in Illinois (not to call, though).

Oh, where's the fun in worrying about that?

Thanks - and I hope you enjoy your weekend!

You're a square dance caller? How cool! I just posted something to SFBay-Poly about square dancing. How long have you been dancing?
Friday, March 12th, 2004 11:46 pm (UTC)
Indeed I am! Hm, since fall of 1991 or so? Yeah, that's about right. Twelve years. I've been calling about three months less than that (just squeaked in on the qualifications to enter callers' school so early).

[mumble. I'm getting older!]

Are you just starting out or have you been dancing a while?

Well, let's see. In the Los Angeles area in 1984 I completed Basic and Mainstream, and later that summer I did some kind of intermediate workshop (something between Mainstream and Plus, but I've forgotten the name). Then I moved to Minneapolis and met my soon-to-be-ex-husband, and started over again with him. I think we got partway through Plus. We got busy (started having kids, for one thing) and kind of drifted away from square dancing. But I've never forgotten how much I enjoyed it! So now I'm going to start over again (I definitely need a refresher!), with my sweetie [livejournal.com profile] oakdragon.

Are "Fun Dangles" still part of the activity? I always wanted to earn some of those. :-)

Oh cool! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much that you want to go back.

Yes, indeed, Fun Dangles are still around! They're made up and given out for all sorts of things: dancing in a swimming pool, dancing the old pattern Pickle Up a Doodle, etc. Find a dancer who's wearing some and ask how she got 'em. At the very least there's bound to be a chuckle or two in there. :-)
