The UPS truck just dropped off a couple packages. Alongside my new UPS battery (THANK GOODNESS) was a Christmas package from my brother and his wife. I suspect that one got delayed in some weird way. They'd said they mailed it in late December. I'll guess they had our old address, and thus had to mail it again.

Among other little gems, there's handmade caramels in there. Handmade, hand-cut, hand-wrapped. That woman has more patience than I will ever have.

UPS parts from UPS. :-) I once had to drop off a UPS there that was defective and the woman behind the counter was so tickled when reading the description of the package contents. It just said "UPS".

my step-mom has made caramel for the last two christmases.
YUM! I don't know the process, but it's definitely worth it. :)

I don't know either, except that I've participated in the cutting and wrapping once and that's kind of mind numbing, but I absolutely agree that hand made caramels are DELICIOUS. Wow.

They seem to last a long time, too, so I can ration these out for a while. 8-)

i don't remember the exact ingredients, but i know it took milk, cream, and butter ~ all the "bad" stuff! and a really freaking huge pot, 'cause the stuff expands as it cooks. definitely a group project ;-)

heh. two unemployed wild women on the loose together... is that even legal??

i haven't posted about it yet, but i turned in an app today for a FT/permanant job within the company today. starting salary i hear is pretty damn nice. I'll need 1 week of vacation for michfest in August, but that should leave (i hope!) a second week ... ;-)

As long as we don't frighten the horses. ;-)

Good luck on that job application! Me, I'm panicking about vacation too... if I get a job, any job, I'll need a chunk of vacation in September (I've signed a contract saying I'm calling in Stockholm, and once you've signed the contract, it is seriously bad juju to back out of it) and another chunk of vacation soon afterwards, in January (again, signed contract, Tokyo). I'd feel pretty awful if I got to these places and couldn't spend any extra time to sightsee. Maybe awful enough to quit a job.

Yum, homemade carmels. It's never too late for Christmas!
My parent's neighbor always brings a batch of hers at Christmastime. They melt in your mouth. MMMMMMMCARAMEL

Oh, man, that did it: now I've just got to go eat one. Be right back. :-)
