Bwa ha haaaa, I used a miter saw!

Well, okay, I wasn't doing anything spiffy with its ultra-macho two-way miter capability. I used it because unlike the circular saw, it has a base, and I don't have to just swing the saw around in the air. Useful. Especially with foot pain. I can't lift diddlysquat these days.

I have an obviously-homemade bookcase just the right size for paperback books. I have too many books for it, so ages ago, I made three freestanding shelves to stack on top. This worked okay, but each shelf was too tall, wasting space and making the top row of books unacceptably hard to reach.

(Pain in the butt being shortish AND having a foot problem that means you can't stand on tiptoe. I bet tall people have no idea how often someone like me has to stand on tiptoe. I probably wouldn't have credited it myself until the stabbing pains kept count of every time I tried.)

So today, I made the shelves the right height. Yay me! Such a simple thing; anyone who's ever done this kind of work before is probably baffled by why I care. Still, it's an accomplishment for me, and I'm pleased.

If I weren't so infernally lazy, I'd nail the whole mess together. But I am. Plus I don't have angle brackets, which it really kinda sorta needs, seeing as how the new shelves have no back or anything. Nor have I procured anything to strap the whole mess to the wall. So for now I'm just stacking stuff up the way it was.

Now I get to clean up all the sawdust in the garage. Oh joy. But I did promise I'd clean up if I used that saw.
