Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Just got a wonderful massage. Kim, the massage therapist, recently learned deep-tissue work and a thing she calls "orthobiotomy" (which sounds to me like an insole is going to surgically remove my body, but what do I know). She did a thing with my neck that was incredibly effective at getting rid of knots. I was stunned at how fast they melted away.

I'll go curl up in a warm spot now.

She DOES do house calls. Right this instant she's working on Rob, but maybe after that she'll feel like dropping by your place. :-)

Send her over! I've got knots in my neck (perpetually; why I haven't made good friends with a massage therapist by now can only be explained by my overarching modesty) -- and endo pains below. Both could do with a skilled therapist.

Has it really been a month since you were here??? I miss you!

Endo can be helped by massage? I had no idea!

Sadly, it has... dang, I wish I could come back. We could wander the souqs and fabric shops, and eat voluminous quantities of kushari.

HEY, maybe you could find out how to make good kushari? I drool at the very thought of it. The random bowl of carbohydrate stuff is easy, but the sauces are a mystery to me.

The back pain that comes with endo can be helped tremendously by gentle massage. The stomach you stay the fuck away from. ;)

So far I've perfected the vinegar sauce, but I just buy the shota. Tabasco wouldn't really do it, but another mexican hot sauce might work just as well -- something with some oil to it, instead of just pepper juice? The tomato sauce???? Nope, no can do -- not yet. Both of my recipe books miss the mark. I can fry the onions, though -- the secret is to get your oil nice and hot and keep your onions nice and cold before the two meet.

I'll work on it. And we'll eat it together some day.

Cool!

The stomach you stay the fuck away from. ;)

I can only imagine. My pain can be helped by just the right kind of belly massage, but first it hurts like blazes for a while.

It's not just vinegar, right? Garlic in it? What else?

Szechuan death oil? The oil part was sorta like that.

The tomato sauce???? Nope, no can do -- not yet. Both of my recipe books miss the mark.

Bummer. This part seems crucial.

That sounds heavenly... *insert wonderful daydream here*

Doesn't it, though? I'll add that to my "CJ and Lisa in Paris in Indian Finery" daydream. And, um, the other daydreams I have concerning you.

I like the way you think! Should I have made this entry friends-only? ;-)

Trying to screen me out, eh? ;) Probably for the best, I might say something stoopid next.

Trying to screen out enough other people so you'll tell me exactly what you had in mind. ;-) ;-)

i must agree, and add that playing around with spices was the only way i could get it anywhere near close to "authentic" - for me the key was the vinegar, since i don't do hot sauce. i should really try to make it again.

I do do hot sauce, but since I only had that stuff twice (one time with much more hot sauce than the other time) I'd be happy to get anything at all resembling the tomato sauce and/or the vinegar.

What did you try for the tomato sauce?
