I went to Yosemiteeeeeeeeeee! 8-) 8-)
Hope, ignore everything I said about Yosemite being colder than a moneylender's heart. LAST year this weekend, that's what it was like. Ice and snow everywhere. But THIS year, it was all nice and fall-like. Sure, maybe in the low 40s at worst in the middle of the night, but sweater or even longsleeve-shirt weather during the day. So unless a big load of snow gets dumped between now and then, it just might feel like "fall"!
Did get to the top of Glacier Point. Yee ha! And the best thing about this hike: I have stopped second-guessing my decision to turn around last year. Reached the point where we turned around last year (best I can recognize, without snow on it) and hiked for another good hour. Wow. That decision to turn around was SO the right thing to do. Anyway, this year, made it to the top and back in just under six hours. Pretty good, considering a) it was dark by the time we got up and b) the water up top is shut off, so downhill was all entirely by flashlight and entirely no-water.
My knees ache, of course. Durn ITB/arthritis stuff. But it was worth it. And they never buckled on me & dumped me on my arse like they did last year... maybe they're getting a bit stronger.
