Before going to Germany and Scotland:
  • Pick up prescription
  • Prepay some periodic bills
  • Finish Pimsleur German tapes (22 lessons to go)
  • Much laundry
  • Decide whether to take my clunky film camera or an equally clunky hand-me-down digital
  • Remind self how to drive a stick
  • Contact flight instructor to mention three-week delay

In the next week (which turns out to mean before leaving):

  • Check in with BOTH doctors
  • Fix upstairs toilet (before houseguests Fri/Sat)
  • Return library books
  • Pay a pile of bills
  • Arrange lunch with David?
  • Get started on hepatitis shots?

By mid- to late August (which almost means before leaving):

  • Write thirty-six more sequences of C4
  • Write a buttload of hard C3B
  • Write a buttload of clever-but-easy C2 and C3A
  • Fill out COBRA paperwork

Where in germany are you going? I stumbled across a *chocolate museum* in Cologne a couple of weeks ago that had "everything" - the usual history, but also a greenhouse with banana plant and cocoa plants, and a "production" wing with operating grinding and conching equipment, all the way to a production line with robot arms and candy-wrapping gear. I haven't got the photos on line yet, but if you're in that part of the country it is worth a look... _Mark_

Thanks for the info! We'll be in Barmstedt, a small town an hour's drive from Hamburg. With only Wednesday afternoon and Thursday free I doubt we'll get as far as Cologne. Some day, though...!

In my best Dorothy (Judy Garland) voice "You'll make it to Cologne some day... You've just got to believe in yourself and keep trying." Ok, that was dumb.

>>Decide whether to take my clunky film camera...

Definitely clunky film camera! For photos that you'll want to keep for a lifetime, I'd definitely not rely on digitals.

given that they are equally clunky, I'd stick with the film camera.
