1. Up at five in the morning, cab leaving at five-thirty. Ungood.
2. Almost at head of line for security, I realized I forgot to get rid of my knife and my scissors. Oops. FedEx drop box nearby, next to newspaper vending box. After much puzzlement and complete inability to get rate information on the phone, I left the waybill with my credit card number. That charge plus thirty-five cents for a newspaper (packing material) got my stuff home. No idea what it cost me. Probably good value: can't replace that knife.
3. Met
wcg! Many thanks, Bill, for being willing to do all the driving and play hooky for an afternoon in order to meet a random California girl. It was great to see you in person. Also great to hear more about what you do. Whole new world for me.
4. Hot. Muggy. Both less so than LA. Definitely less hot than Sunnyvale that weekend -- glad I escaped.
5. Much difficult dancing. Very difficult. More so than intended. My confidence improved; this was no worse than what my tape group inflicts on me regularly, and I wasn't at all the worst loser there. Finally I have reached the middle of the pack in terms of skills at an open dance. This realization makes my mood soar. Still cheerful now, Tuesday. Another year and I may actually be useful. Wow.
6. Much tasty food, much good hanging around and talking and occasional buttery nipples. (Hey, stop that! It's a drink!)
7. Two people putting out feelers for Rob and me calling in Japan. Wow. Most likely booking would be January 2004.
8. Hotel fire. Annoying.
9. Mall trip for Jane's chocolate craving. Found NEUHAUS CHOCOLATES! In a random mall in Gaithersburg! They promptly melted into slag during many-hour odyssey home. Boo hiss bah. I licked every molecule off the inside of the box.
10. Long late trip home. Kitties happy. :-)

I looked back through your journal and couldn't find anywhere that you said you would be in this area. Did I miss it?
Damn. You'll probably never have a dance that close again. *sniffle*

Dan and Janet organize dances in Gaithersburg infrequently but regularly - once or perhaps twice a year. I wouldn't be surprised if I get back there for another one. :-) I'll make sure to mention it in LJ if I do!
