Last summer I got most of the major parts of my car's air conditioning system replaced. There were a few glitches, though, and by the time we got down to a suspected slow leak and put dye in the system, the weather was cold enough that I dropped the matter for winter.

But yesterday it was in the eighties in San Jose, and about 110 in my car, so back to the shop I went.

Good old Dave calls me up. They found dye all around the compressor and so he says I need a new one. "AGAIN?" was my immediate response. He didn't think it was "again," but sure enough, once he searched the history records he found the new compressor I got in June. So I get this one under warranty.

Glad I said something.

I get my car back tomorrow.

Good that you're getting this one under warranty. I hope Dave checks the connections pretty carefully.

I hope whoever actually does the work checks it, too, because Dave's elevator doesn't go to the top floor. Fortunately, Dave is merely the interface between me and anyone who might have greasy fingernails.

We just had some auto AC work done this week, and did a conversion from a R-12 to a R-134 system, and got a great price on the work from a local garage. There is likely still a leak, though, that we will need to have checked out after our long Memorial Day drive across the Florida panhandle.

It doesn't usually get that hot there, does it? I guessed that 80s were a July/August thing only there.

I bet you're glad you got the work done BEFORE the long drive across the panhandle. I hope the leak is slow enough that you're comfortable the whole way.

Summer temperatures here are kind of random. It appears that this year, spring was one week long, and I missed it while I was gallivanting around Portland. :-)
