I've gone from having no ideas of what to try for my menstrual pain to having more options than I know how to follow concurrently.
1) Helena Women's Health. Appointment in the dim misty future.
2) Two clinics specializing in pain management, recommended by my doctor. Either one is good, he says; pick the place I can get the earliest appointment.
3) Hysterectomy - my doctor is willing to do this if he and I feel it's the best choice for me, but we agree on exhausting other options first.
4) A doctor recommended by a square dancer friend. Friend says doctor is "off the beaten path", which turned out to translate to "somewhat New Age woo-woo, not on any health insurance plans, very helpful for weird cases".
5) A doctor recommended by another square dancer friend. This doc specializes in my friend's transgender "stuff" - I presume she means this doc is the primary physician for anything trans related - and is recommended for compassion, intelligence, and tenacious problem-solving.
Many options are better than none...

While i hate to hear you're facing a hysterectomy, i'm glad you and your doc are open to the idea if/when you've exhausted all other possibilities. It really stinks that medicine is not an exact science.
here's hoping the Scheduling Goddess will also smile upon you and you'll get the coveted phonecall from Helena Women's Health asking if you'd like to take an earlier appointment.
