SATURDAY

My hotel was just about at Speedway and Stone, so I ran down to Broadway, back up, back down, and halfway back up (3.5mi) saving the last half mile to walk and cool down. Whole thing, including cool-down, 50 minutes. That implies the running was at least as fast as 12 minutes/mile. I feel good about that, especially with the steep underpass. (All my previous runs have been on essentially flat terrain.)

Yes, Virginia, my runs are now long enough that I really should consider sunscreen. At least in a sunny desert city farther south than San Diego.

Note to Self: Hiking long distances the same day as I run 3.5 miles doesn't work well. Am not that tough yet.

MONDAY

Welcome back to the Bay Area. Today's was the run measured by time. Ran 13 minutes, got rained out. Waited. Ran 35 minutes, got rained out. Sigh. Better luck next time.

The new shoes are great. The old blisters are fading echoes of crispy contour lines, and there are no new ones. I'll buy that for a dollar.
