IEEE is giving away free downloads of IEEE802.3 (Ethernet), normally $295, as long as you agree to their terms. I am not at all averse to saving multiple hundreds of bucks. I grabbed me one o' them bad boys.

1500+ pages. I haven't yet fallen asleep and broken my nose on the three-ring binder. If nothing else I am stubborn. I WILL learn this stuff.

I feel like I'm fifteen years behind where I want to be. If I was going to wind up doing embedded software, why oh why didn't I START my career in embedded software? (Rhetorical question.)
