I've been grumpy about work lately, and early this week (late last week? sometime) I made a freaking brilliant observation: if I can't solve THAT problem, maybe I can solve OTHER THINGS in the meantime.

So last weekend I made jelly and I made brownies; I called a friend I hadn't seen in months; I made progress on organizing my photos from the recent trip; I did some badly-needed pruning in the flowerboxes outside my house; I called the doctor and got started on the Injections of Death; I did a couple of errands and cleaned up the living room significantly; I set up my pretty Northern Lights picture in the office.

I'm still considering getting my hair cut short (maybe I'm ready to, maybe not) and mulling over whether to drop my car off for repairs or search for a new(er) one. In another week or two I might be able to start running again. Maybe I could hike even sooner than that.

Solve what I can. It's a useful idea.

OW.

Again.

Better get home from work while I'm still safe to drive. [livejournal.com profile] rfrench isn't available to come get me tonight. Also should tell coworkers to give my dinner to someone else when it arrives.

Sunday was almost this bad. Tuesday night was worse than this is now, but Tuesday at this time was not this bad yet. Time to start a log. I'll need concrete information for the doctor.

One of my pet peeves is authors, usually fantasy authors, who give a character enormously long luxurious hair and then never mention it when it would matter. They linger over descriptions of the protagonist they wish they could be, but when they put her (always her) in a situation where her hair would have to interact with something, somehow nothing happens. The laws of physics are suspended! They're wanking, these authors; they haven't done the simplest research.

I started to rant... )
