A sesame bagel with cream cheese, and my Friends page. Great way to start a rainy morning! :-)

Here's what I did for the birthday panic :-).
1) a couple little things to unwrap (eg See's Candies)
2) res for two at La Fondue, my treat
3) tickets to Tafelmusik in January
4) a gift certificate for a we'll-do-whatever-you-decide day, complete with a little pseudo-advertising-copy about me and how I'd be so helpful and so great to spend the day with
Seems to have worked out well! MANY THANKS to everyone who talked about gift certificates and suchlike. This was a win.

I went to Yosemiteeeeeeeeeee! 8-) 8-)
Hope, ignore everything I said about Yosemite being colder than a moneylender's heart. LAST year this weekend, that's what it was like. Ice and snow everywhere. But THIS year, it was all nice and fall-like. Sure, maybe in the low 40s at worst in the middle of the night, but sweater or even longsleeve-shirt weather during the day. So unless a big load of snow gets dumped between now and then, it just might feel like "fall"!
Did get to the top of Glacier Point. Yee ha! And the best thing about this hike: I have stopped second-guessing my decision to turn around last year. Reached the point where we turned around last year (best I can recognize, without snow on it) and hiked for another good hour. Wow. That decision to turn around was SO the right thing to do. Anyway, this year, made it to the top and back in just under six hours. Pretty good, considering a) it was dark by the time we got up and b) the water up top is shut off, so downhill was all entirely by flashlight and entirely no-water.
My knees ache, of course. Durn ITB/arthritis stuff. But it was worth it. And they never buckled on me & dumped me on my arse like they did last year... maybe they're getting a bit stronger.

I am eating a whole bunch of olive oil right now. Omega-mumble fatty acids. Good girl. Yummy, too! 8-)
Great, I'm posting about what I'm eating and whether it's healthy. Have I reached... middle age? Noooooooooooooooooooooo!
Might as well go the whole nine yards and discuss my need to keep well-hydrated today because my muscles, sore from the Glacier Point hike, need lots of water so they can get rid of whatever it is they need to get rid of and do all their little metabolic recycling things. I bet one major reason I feel the soreness now is that I didn't drink enough while hiking.
Wish I could do that hike every weekend. Mmmmm. I'd be in good hiking shape for sure. Next year: Half Dome!

My pal Chris might start LiveJournaling! Now I'll have to go back and look to see if I wrote an entry about the time he... Well, you wouldn't have believed me anyway. You can't GET a kangaroo in an elevator if she doesn't wanna go. And I'd just have to delete that post if I had told you, 'cause I was supposed to keep quiet about it. 8-)
