1. What is your most prized material possession?
If you don't count my cats, it would probably be my photographs.
2. What item, that you currently own, have you had the longest?
I still have Princess's ashes, and if you count that I got Princess when I was ten, that'd be twenty-five years. Oh, no cats? I have a trip journal from when I was twelve. That might be the longest.
3. Are you a packrat?
On a scale of 1 to 10, about a six. I keep a lot more stuff than I need, but I do throw things away. I've read about the effects of severe hoarding, and that's usually enough to bring some sanity into my "keep or not keep" decisions.
4. Do you prefer a spic-and-span clean house? Or is some clutter necessary to avoid the appearance of a museum?
I'd like to be able to produce a spic-and-span appearance occasionally, but that's not the way I'd like to live day-to-day. And frankly, clutter is the way it's going to be, even when I wish I could impress a guest. Oh well. :)
5. Do the rooms in your house have a theme? Or is it a mixture of knick-knacks here and there?
Yes. The theme is "books".

I never thought of it that way before, but mine is too! There isn't a single room in my house without at least some books, with the majority in the finished basement -- I actually have them shelved according to the Dewey Decimal System. (In a general way, that is -- by 10's, not units and certainly not decimals!)
I've written quite a bit about my bookaholism (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=sunnydale47&keyword=books&filter=all). ;-)
