Two thoughts:

I thought it was a parody at first. But no. Gads. If a car like this has to even exist, I think it's time to look at how people are living their lives and make changes there so things aren't so hectic and stressful. I think there should be shorter commutes, more public transit, more flexible work schedules, and family leave for employees to support saner, more loving and connected living. But it seems like the American consumerist response is to try to sell people on this car, rather than address the root causes. Phooey.

On the other hand, now here are cars that homeless people can actually live in and live decently. If only they could afford them!

I thought it was a parody at first, too.

Oh. My. God.

I agree--at first, I thought, "must be a parody." Then I took a good look at the site. Only if it were April 1 would they be running this as a joke, so it must be serious.

By all that we find holy, people, PLEASE, get a life and spend some time with your FAMILIES! This has gone too far. (Besides which, can you imagine what kind of GAS mileage this thing gets with that much water sloshing around in it all the time????)

On the other hand, it would save a lot of rent money.

....

Oh wait a minute. You mean people are going to own these things as well as own or rent homes? Never mind. I'm on the wrong continent again.

That was my thought: This is the car for people who can't afford rent. Car payments might be almost as high, but at least after five years you own the thing.

I had a sudden horrid vision of an entire country of people living in these very, very condensed mobile homes, all driving around all the time with nowhere to actually go. Those things are basically really expensive hamster wheels. I am very afraid.
