Okay, anything I planned to do between 7pm Tuesday 12/10/02 and oh, say, Sunday morning 12/15/02 is null and void. I'm heading to Cleveland.

Actually, I'm heading to Detroit. You would not BELIEVE the airfare difference. I can get from San Jose to Cleveland for close to seven hundred smackers, but if I'm willing to drive to Oakland airport (an hour or so) and fly the redeye and wait two hours for a car rental place to open and then drive from Detroit to Cleveland (three hours or so), well, then I can get there and back for just over

two
hundred
dollars

I am impressed. Even with a car rental I'm easily coming out ahead. Of course, the timing isn't very convenient, because this airline has exactly one flight that day. But hey. For an out-of-work gal this is an excellent deal.

I hope these aircraft have engines.

I'll be thinking of you, and your mom, and your grandmother.

Thanks, Kathy. :-/

I have difficulty trusting anything with less than eight engines.
I hope you have a safe journey.

Eight? Yikes!

I trust gliders pretty well, but I wouldn't use one to get to Cleveland.

Thanks for the well wishes.

I love the B-52! They like to tell the story about a B-52 being escorted by a fighter jet (pick a jet, any jet *grin*). The jet does a fancy maneuver (loop, roll, pick something impressive) and the hot rock fighter jock boasts to his larger brethen "Top that!" The BUFF pilot replies "OK, Lets see if you can do this." They travel on for awhile and nothing appears to be happening. So the fighter jock goes "Top what?" The BUFF pilot responds "I just shut down two engines, can you do that?"

It's a microsoft plane - there are chairs on the tarmac and you all get to make plane noises and flap your arms ;)

Sorry we'll miss you while we're out in the Bay Area this weekend. But I'm glad you're able to be with your mom and grandma right now.

Actually, we'll be out there until Tuesday morning. If you're home by then, and are up to it, maybe have lunch Monday??

Bwa ha haaa! With this price I wouldn't be overly surprised! :-)

Erm, yesterday I seem to have promised Monday lunch to [livejournal.com profile] the_ogre...
I suppose I could do two lunches that day, or if I'm back early I'll make an LJ post and we can try for something else.

Yeah, it'll have engines and everything. I hope you have a safe trip, and that it goes as well as such a thing possibly can.

With this price I have to wonder what they left out. Anyhow, thanks for the well wishes.

isn't it kooky how the differences between departure/arrival cities can vary so wildly?

{{{{hugs}}}} to you and your family. Wish i was closer to cleveland so i could offer you a place to escape to, and a kitty to scritch.
Monday, December 9th, 2002 10:42 am (UTC)
What's kooky is this airline. Its pricing structure is almost sane... one ticket, one price. Wild. They serve something like ten cities total.

Ooo, a kitty! Darn...

Pilots worry more about flying commercial than anyone else! You'll be fine -- if the aircraft experiences a problem, go on up to the cockpit and help 'em with it. Teach 'em how to do a lomcevak while you're there. ;-)

I'm glad you were able to find such a bargain fare, and glad you're going to be there with your mom. Give her a warm hug from me.

Bwa ha haaa! 8-) Actually, a lot of the time I'm totally happy flying commercial. My distrust of a bargain is coming through on this one... two hundred bucks to cross most of the continent twice? What are they leaving out?

Thanks, I will... and I'll count her hug back as coming at least partially from you. :-)
