The other thing making me think arson was "Hmm, big development, bad economy". Of course there's no substantiation to any of that, I'm just musing.

No I didn't see it in person. Must have been really awe-ful, in both senses of that word!

saw it from 28o at about 430
and at 8 from 2 miles away you could see the smoke pouring in to the air

since it started at 330 when people could have died thats why I didnt think arson for profit
but who knows

my chum works secuarty at great america
in this weather 3 15 year olds broke in at midnight and started shoothing fireworks and rockets off the roof of the theater, not much caught on fire but it could have been a lot worse.

people have no idea how bad fire can be

yup, that's why i thought arson right away. terrorists didn't even cross my mind, it just doesn't have anything to it that would lead me to think that. i pretty much almost always think arson with such fires, though whether i think "insurance fraud" or "firebug" depends on the specifics of the site.
