We have a couch! To be more precise, we have our old couch back, with new springs and padding and now covered in leather.

It's very well done. I heartily recommend Ambassador Upholstery. The guy's truck breaks down all the friggin' time, so expect small schedule delays, but the work is done quickly and is exactly what we ordered.

So far, the cats won't even get ON it, much less choose it as a scratching post. My fingers are crossed.

Leather? I've always been afraid of that with my cats - even thought they're front declawed, I'd figure they'd leave scratch marks.

I just got new matching throws from Blar for our old chair and couch - they match now! And these easily come off for washing.

Yeah, it's a gamble. We chose leather because we'd seen them leave Rick's fancy leather comfy chair alone, while shredding everything else in the room. We're hoping we don't have to reupholster it AGAIN in a few years. Fingers crossed...!

We chose a leather that doesn't get scratch marks just flicking it with a fingernail. Apparently that "feature" is very popular with some people, but it would drive me batty. This can be scratched but we'd have to work harder at it.

New matching throws sounds like a very practical solution! Our couch was way too far gone for that (it really DID need new springs and padding) but I don't feel bad about that, it's as old as I am. If we ever get a newish cloth-covered one again we'll hopefully do throws or slipcovers on it BEFORE it gets past the point of no return.
