If I wanted to shorten that phrase, would it come out something like "up holstery-date"? And what would an upholstery date be, anyway? Hey baby. Let me cover you in fabric.
We got a quote and we're going to go for it. After all, the only other way we can get a comfortable couch is to have it custom built, and why do that when we already have a frame we can use? It's going to be brown leather. I'm not fond of brown leather (black is THE only color for leather, in my not at all humble opinion), but brown fits the decor and leather won't be nearly so attractive to cats' claws as fabric would.
Now to get rid of the other couch and buy a few chairs that are pleasant to sit in. This is starting to get expensive. But I admit I'm really, really tired of looking at all the ripped up torn up chewed up and spit out furniture in that room.

Y'know, the idea does have a certain appeal.
My sister who does semi-professional costuming once explained Regency period women's clothing as "upholster the bosom, and then drape the rest of the body."
I imagine I'd rather dress you in the neo-classical style of the 1820's, but hey, Regency would work.
Other than that, I wish you well with your custom leather couch.
