Here is what I have from Rob:

Plan on lows in the high 40s, highs from the high 60s to the low 80s depending on the day, occasional rain. Plan for lots of walking, some hiking. Bring your camera.

We should try to leave the house around 9am on the 4th for a 9:45 takeoff.

I still don't know where we're going or what (other than hiking) we're doing. Wheee!

I'm going to guess Jackson Hole, Wyoming. That's about daytrip flying distance from you with the kind of weather you mentioned. Of course, it could be a lot of other places too...

I went to Jackson Hole two years ago for a family reunion, and could not take my plane due to time constraints (I had a SLOW plane). It cost me NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS to get there, flying commercially, and to add insult to injury it took longer to get there than it would have taken to get to Boston. Yeow! That was the year I suggested London. I could have gone all the way from California to London for only four hundred dollars.

Lesson learned: When going to Jackson Hole, bring your own @#$! plane. Even if you have to buy it, fly it there and back, and sell it when you return, you'll come out ahead. Yeesh.

So hey. Maybe it *is* Wyoming. :-)

Should we start a pool? :)

Could it be Seattle?

I forgot a clue: A guy from Hertz called from Oregon. So it is somewhere in Oregon. If anything, we should start a pool about what the activities are. Rob said he chose some of them for my enjoyment more than for his; that makes me wonder. Hiking he likes, maybe not quite as much as I do but a fair amount. I like cats and pettable plants and quilts and books and chocolate. He said "lots of walking around"; will we go to a quilt superstore? He said "bring your camera"; does Oregon contain the world's most famous chocolate sculpture?

*laugh*
I hope, at the very least, there's a trip to Powell's Books! If you're anywhere near Portland, that is.

The southern coast is gorgeous, and there's lots of hiking all over the state.

There's rafting.

Hm.

I don't know if there's a quilt superstore, but if there is, point me in its direction. :)

Maybe Portland, the Columbia River Gorge (hiking, photography),
and Powell's City of Books? I'm not sure what Rob-stuff would be,
but all three of those sound like Joe-food.

Heck, I was guessin' Montana from the weather map. :)

He is indeed a keeper. (shy smile) Now if only I could get it through my thick head that he actually wants to keep me.

I love these surprise trips. Next one's my turn. Hmmmm...
