I have a hairball

Yesterday I started coughing a little more deeply than usual, and it seemed a bit hurty, too. In fairness, I should note that I've always been a cougher; ever since a particularly bad illness the summer after high school, I've had a deep loud cough that sounds like I'm really quite sick, even when I'm perfectly healthy. But right at the moment it's different. It feels kind of like there's a Ping-Pong ball at the bottom of my trachea. Boy am I loud, too.

Took my temp. No fever. No watery eyes, no more runny nose or sneezes than usual, no aches and pains, no sore throat. (For me, cold/flu kinds of illness almost always start with a terrible sore throat and then move to the sinuses.) So this one's weird. It's not following the patterns for "sick" but it sure isn't healthy. My bio lab partners and I chatted about it and decided that I have a hairball.

I hope I get rid of it soon. My grades will suffer if I get sick. I don't get cold/flu stuff often, but when I do, it tends to be really bad. Last time was something like six weeks, four of them with fever. Starting now, that would last me just about to final exams.

Just in case it's a hairball, though, I'll stay on the linoleum.

Also, I feel terribly guilty for wanting to laugh so hard when you might be unpleasantly and inconveniently ill, but...

that sucks! have you ever tried the whole neti pot thing? if nothing else there'd be the satisfaction of actually chasing the crud down in its lair and flushing it out, so to speak.

Tried once, never got good at it. Sadly it doesn't work very well on lungs...!
