Friday night: Stanford Savoyards production of The Mikado. Lighthearted and fun.
Saturday: Clean house. Grate cheese. Get five phone calls from my family. Have party. Tidy up a little.
Sunday: Do some dishes. Sleep. Original Pancake House breakfast. Sleep. Get interrupted by two more phone calls from my family. Sleep. Attempt to talk and destress about the family situation enough to decide what to do. (MANY THANKS, you know who you are.) Try to call my family back; fail. Hike. More dishes. Sleep.
Lessons learned: Yes, Virginia, grating cheese can cause tendonitis. Eleven people can fit in my hot tub, but it gets chilly when enough water has poured over the side that the pumps shut down. The kitties are actually fairly comfortable with large groups of people. Turn off the @#$! cellphone. Hot sauce stains dishwashers. If you're going to say no to someone, especially a family someone, say it early.
