No more techie consulting contract. More layoffs at client company. I guess I know what I'll be doing with my Tuesday and Thursday mornings now: asking veterinarians to let me watch surgeries! Or, y'know, studying.

Got into Honors Society, provisionally -- need to get a recommendation from a teacher to them by early Feb. I've already been invited to three of their events, none of which I can attend because of my schedule, and sadly, one of the responsibilities of being in this thing is I'm supposed to go to their shindigs. (The other rule is I have to take one useless class every quarter.) Ah well. It could be worse: I could have been turned down! That would have lost me any chance of early registration for spring.

Three weeks into the quarter, it's "midterms" time (the first of roughly three). Bio exam tomorrow, chemistry exam Monday, Spanish exam Tuesday. Thank goodness I'm starting to sleep a little better.

You know, you are in a far better place than many of your contemporaries since many of them may be looking at the possibility of being jobless and you have already made plans to go for something that is going to make you happier. I know that quitting and going to school was very stressful for you, but it will serve you far better in the long run.

♥ for you and care and concern for your friends.

I feel incredibly fortunate that I was even able to attempt this whole career change thing. A few of the people who got laid off in this round are financially pretty stable and can handle a search of a couple months, but some of them aren't so well situated, and I feel for them. I hope they land in better places very soon.

Pity about the consulting. Maybe you can get a paying gig at one of the veterinary clinics.

I'm getting minimum wage for cleaning up poop. (Of course I won't be on the clock for observing surgeries.) Why didn't I go into IT? I'd love a paying gig as a part time sysadmin at a vet clinic, but I don't currently have those skills.
