Little bits and pieces

Duchess is diabetic again.

I managed to do one massive chunk of cleaning Friday evening, so now I don't have it to do today. It's amazing how much calmer my Sunday is when a couple of hours of chores are removed.

It's also amazing how much nicer my Sunday is when I do the grocery run Saturday night. Sadly, I learned that that is a TERRIBLE time to shop at my local store. I got a head of lettuce about seven inches in diameter, several zucchini that looked more like pickles, no half-and-half because they were out of it, no 85% dark chocolate because they were out of it, and okay, there were some chicken breasts on sale. What an awful trip. It's so much better-stocked on Sunday morning.

I drank white wine last night (ooooooo bad!! hee) and I slept like a rock. Diphenhydramine is useless by comparison. I'd forgotten what it was like to be not tired.

Four seconds on "tiptoe" (ball of the foot) on the hard porcelain of the shower floor this morning. That's on a Sunday morning, after the most foot-strenuous day of the week. And did you notice I was not only able but willing to go grocery shopping on a Saturday night? Things ARE changing. Whether it's Lyme, or the weird-ass diet (or even a side effect of being down ten pounds), or me somehow magically acclimating to being on my feet all day Saturday, or just random fluctuations, I don't know. But I won't complain.

... or even a side effect of being down ten pounds ...

Maybe you should just hook a lot of helium balloons to your feet :-)

Ooo, I don't know ANYBODY with piercings THERE.

Things ARE changing.

I'm so excited for you! I'm still not getting the diet thing (even though you've explained it several times!), but I'm really hoping this is a function of you being treated for lyme disease, and responding to the treatment :)

I don't get the diet thing either. People keep telling me I "look good", to the point where I wonder what I looked like before. Apparently a lot of the weight was stored in my face. :-)

i'm getting a lot of that too. yeah, i have more energy and have lost 21 lbs, but i think i also FEEL better overall, and it shows. it's amazing how much even a little bit of pain or malaise will show in one's face ('specially around the eyes).

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2008-08-04 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes. I feel immensely energetic lately, just full of the feeling of well-being, and I don't know whether it's the improved nutrition or just the lower pain level. Pain is insidious. It eats everything -- intelligence, energy, EVERYTHING. I'm glad you're feeling better! I hope everything you're doing will keep working!

I am SO glad that things are changing. I hope they will continue to change for the better. *hugs lots*

Thanks! *hugsback* Fingers crossed.

I got my fingers crossed for continued improvement.

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2008-08-04 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! Me too, although I'm carefully not yet letting myself truly hope. I'm just enjoying feeling energetic for a while.

yay!!! that's a BIG FREAKING DEAL that you did your saturday vet gig and willingly went grocery shopping in the same day.

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2008-08-04 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Yes indeed, it's pretty amazing. I *do* have new shoes; those wedge-shaped shoes I wear break down after three to four weeks, and when I replace them, things feel MUCH BETTER for a week or two. But I'm sure that's not all it is. If I had some kind of autoimmune thing, I'd be saying I'm coming out of a flare. As it is, there's no way to know yet what is really happening in there. :-)

I'm totally for taking it while you can get it and being thankful for it.

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2008-08-04 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Absolutely. And fingers crossed for the future - can't hurt except when I'm typing. :-)

ooh, that sounds positive :)

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2008-08-04 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Despite myself I have some guarded hope.

Poor kitty.
At least you're familiar with what to do to treat it.

(note: I've not been on LJ much recently. I just got back from a 10 day camping trip a few days ago & I've been busy since.)

Thinking of you. *good kitty health & good luck hugs*

Yep, and she's getting right back into the swing of things, coming into the kitchen morning and evening when I open the fridge. I suspect the best thing I ever did (for both her happiness and my sanity, if not necessarily for her health) is decide to put down a kitty treat or two while I give the shot. :-)
