Chest freezer? Maybe I can has!

Oooo. A Kenmore that's 30% off at Sears right now would fit.

I could get it delivered Monday, or if I were able-bodied I could pick it up tonight. It would be best if we had some kind of mechanical leverage to drop it straight down into the hole. Otherwise I'll have to deinstall and reinstall the washer/dryer to get it in there. But honestly, that's something even wimpy me can do if I hafta. I wonder if delivery guys routinely cart around something shaped kinda like an engine hoist. :-)

I have only one meeting where anyone would miss me on Monday.

I have been wanting one of these puppies for probably multiple years. I just never quite had the spoons, or another way to say it is that I hadn't put it at the top of the priority list.

Change your votes in the poll if they were influenced by the lack of freezer. YAY! :-)

We have an extra freezer in the garage and I love it! The extra space really does help me cut down on time spent at the store, etc. Since there are three adults and one eating machine at my house, it helps me a great deal. And there are some times where it needs to be all about me :-) I say got for it!

This is going to help immensely. I just realized this morning that while I shouldn't cook much this weekend, because the fridge and the freezer are full, I can't cook at all next weekend, because I have a square dance calling gig. That means I need to live on what I have until July 20. I can not pull off something like that without a chest freezer.

Too bad I can't eat my emergency supplies. Like many Californians, I have food for a while socked away, but now that I'm under treatment for Lyme I can't eat any of it.

Awesome. Don't forget that a lot of delivery guys are strong enough to take a small chest freezer, lift it up above your washer, hold it out at arms length, and set it down in the hole. I'm always stunned by what some people can do with their bodies.

Holy moly. Well, I guess I can ask them when they get here!

do it!!! doooooo eeeeeeettt!!!

it's not in the "ooh! shiny! a new toy!" category. i'd say this falls in the "will improve my quality of life" category. but then, i do tend to blur the rules sometimes. ;-)

Oh definitely. I've just realized I can't cook next weekend as I have a square dance gig, so I have just this fridge/freezer to hold me until July 20. That kind of thing makes the chest freezer a no-brainer.

Too bad I can't eat my earthquake supplies. Those are all now off-limits due to my diet!

having to go 15 days on what you have right now? i seriously doubt i could do that.

could you barter/sell your earthquake supplies for things you could eat then, or something you need now? maybe keeping whatever would be the least of the evils? (for me, anything wheat would have to go, but rice, oats, and probably corn could stay. not ideal, but better than starving)

i have my spot for a freezer picked out. as soon as i get the garage settled and stuff, then i'll let myself have it.

I can go 15 days on what I've got now, but I'll be leaning more heavily on the canned goods than I'd like. And of course if I can cook, I can go much longer - the issue at the moment is free time, particularly free time during which I'm in physical condition to stand up. (After a day of square dance calling is *not* prime standing up time.)

Some of my supplies will last long enough that I have a good chance they'll be useful again. I'd just feel better if I had a bit of a stash that will serve me in the meantime.
