Naked eggs

I totally want to do this. And I have eggs.

Um, the question in my mind is, why? What will you do with naked eggs?

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2008-05-29 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Watch it jiggle, see it wiggle... Also put one in salt water to shrivel it up, or put it in the freezer to see what happens. If I don't mess with it too badly I may even hardboil it afterward. :-)

Surely All Pilots Must Watch Airplane!

'She's beginning to shake!' 'She's beginning to shimmy!'

If you have the eggs, I've got the naked.

Er, never mind. :)

I admit these are two concepts I usually do not think of together. :-)

[identity profile] jupiter29.livejournal.com 2008-05-29 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Are there concepts that you usually do casually associate with nudity, so that I may begin studying up on them? :)

Let us know how it goes!

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2008-05-29 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
This definitely requires a photo post.

We had hens growing up -- they'd lay them without shells naturally fairly often!

Oh wow! ...Not enough calcium in their diets, or what?

Me, I wanna make the bomb....

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2008-05-29 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
That too!

There's a Cosmic Egg and naked singularity joke somewhere here just out of my reach. You'll need to find someone who knows some astronomy. Good luck with that.

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2008-05-29 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I think someone on my friends list is learning astronomy in school.

We have tons of eggs (ya know, having chickens and all), so I am definitely trying this!

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2008-05-29 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
For me it's one of those "because you can!" kinds of things. Mountain Dew jelly, recipe stolen from Kit, was another. :-)

Mountain Dew Jelly

Okay - I went and checked that out and, if ambition ever strikes me again, I might make some. I just have this vision of going to an SCA event with that and a jug of Gallo with a glow stick immersed in it. Ther is something about foods (and liquids) that have a 'radioactive' glow that would be fun to tweak people with.

So, if you put a naked egg in salt water to shrivel it up, the egg will still contain all the eggy goodness it did before, just with less water. I wonder what sort of interesting texture you get if you then scramble this concentrated egg?

Also, does the white get concentrated, or the yolk, or both?

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2008-05-30 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe you get a rock. That would be cool to try, actually.

There's a membrane between the white and the yolk, and both contain a lot of water, so if I had to guess (just pulling concepts out of my hat), the white gets concentrated first and then its concentration pulls water out of the yolk.

I really have to try this stuff.
