Body Worlds

WOW. That exhibit is way cool. WAY cool.

I learned where the nerves to the-big-toe-and-the-next-two-toes and the-pinky-toe-and-its-neighbor diverge. Well, I think I got it, anyway. (Some of these specimens aren't in perfect condition any more. I suspect the nervous system is particularly fragile.) The anatomy textbook I snuck a good long look at in my doctor's office couldn't explain that one to me. That alone was worth the price of admission.

And yes, I did take a good long look at the horse. :)

I was utterly unprepared for the enormously long line, the parking lots within several city blocks all being full, and just generally the annoyingness of trying to drive in a city. I remember now why I avoid cities.

I was very pleased to go with [livejournal.com profile] iridium, who is just as geeked-out about this sort of thing as I am. (Arguably way more.) [livejournal.com profile] iridium, it was great to spend the afternoon and evening with you! And [livejournal.com profile] plymouth, it was great to get to see you for dinner!

Yummy dinner at a place called, I think, Skewed Asqew. Very dry couscous; everything else tasty.

My scooter is wonderful. I could found a new religion based on this level of wonderfulness. I could hear angel choirs singing, it was that good.

I'm-a-gonna spend a bunch of time digesting that new mental tidbit on where those foot nerves go. :)

Sleep time now.

One of the reasons I like the CT scans I have of my abdomen and partial upper torso is that I can see various pathways.

Yeah, that's really cool stuff. I wish I knew more basic anatomy. (I know a lot more basic anatomy now than I did before I went to this exhibit. Quick! Where's the spleen?) It seems like the kind of thing that becomes more useful to know as we age. The doctor could tell us "It hurts over there because _________" and, presuming we were interested, we'd have a shred of hope of knowing what he means.

The eatery in question is Asqew Grill (http://www.asqewgrill.com/). Looks like it's a mini-chain with locations in SF and Emeryville.

And it was fabulous to see you and [livejournal.com profile] iridium too...

Asqew! Thanks. (Edited.)

While the exhibit is cool (we saw whatever version of it was in Boston), the guy behind it still creeps me out.

Yeah, that's... I tried not to think about it when I was actually in there. One question that gets me is how they ever got that many human fetuses. How many women signed the consent form, got pregnant, and died? How many husbands knew...? My mind boggles.
