FILING!

Today was FILING DAY here at Casa CJ-&-Rob. Well, okay: I filed things and Rob threw things away. (Might as well play to our strengths.) He generated three or maybe four kitchen-size garbage bags of mixed-paper trash.

This was all, by the way, him helping me. This was three or four garbage bags of my trash, from my file folders. He spent the afternoon doing this. He claimed he was having fun. Maybe he was merely being evil. We'll see what I'm missing come tax time. :-)

Who was it who said that if you have more than one filing cabinet, you're either very successful or a clutterer? I think we all know which one I am. That room contains TWENTY-FOUR file drawers. OK, let's ignore the desks: there are still sixteen. Nine of them hold papers. This is way over the top.

I hesitate to say that every piece of paper is now in its proper place, becase it's not quite that perfect, but it's close. I have four bills to pay, so those aren't put away yet. I have stuff to take to work, so none of that is where it belongs yet. And I have receipts to process (but they're all in the right place to wait). That's all I know of.

Next, I get to be the one helping him out. This evening we are going to a flying club Christmas party. (This is the equivalent of his company party; he works there, so he has a greater than usual obligation to show up.) At this event I will know pretty much no one. It will be the kind of party where everyone stands up all night, aka Able Bodied Hell. If you sit down there's no one to talk to and your most polite next step is to fall asleep. We are also supposed to wear Nice Clothes. Maybe there will be calories.

Shower time.

Congrats on the filing! It's always nice to accomplish a big task like that.

As for the Christmas party, at least you're a pilot, so you have something in common with most of the people there.

It felt very good to get that done. Those stacks of paper have been bugging me for a long time.

It's handy to have something in common with people. We're (I mean, Rob is) throwing a pilot-themed party here at the house next week, and again, the only reason I can converse with any of these folks (most of whom I've seen a maximum of once) is that we share an interest in flying! :)

Oh, F*I*LING...

One letter makes such a difference :-)

I went to my flying club's holiday party last year. It was dismal, despite being in an otherwise cool spot. [livejournal.com profile] aiglet started to get awfully depressed so we ducked out early.

Hope yours is better!

It wasn't bad, once I got a seat and found some people to talk to. Mostly seated people. What is it about flying clubs and the preponderance of VERY TALL PEOPLE? Man, my neck hurts! :-)

I should pay you to come handle our filing situation! Our house is paperwork HELL.

Pay Rob instead. I am convinced that the biggest skill in filing is knowing what to get rid of! But I can certainly make sense of what's left. :-)

clutterbug

well, chucking someone else's stuff is WAY MORE FUN! just remember, you can now get even. BUT, does he even have any stuff "cluttered up" that needs tending? ha. send him our way. We have a whole house full of stuff.

Isn't THAT the truth? There is so much of his stuff that I can't see why he keeps. The feeling is mutual. I wonder what our house would look like if an item needed two votes to stay!
