I should know better than to have a salad for lunch. There was NOTHING in there that could stick with me, so I'm ravenous now, despite the fact that that dressing was nearly pure sugar (eww) and thus I've had a reasonable caloric intake for the rest of the year.

And now for something completely different: Is anybody reading this a Windows Mobile programmer?

I have salads for dinner fairly often (once or twice a week) and find them very filling... but then they always have nuts and cheese in them :)( mmmm, point reyes bluuuuuue....)

If you're still at work, might there be instant oatmeal or something similar in a vending machine?

I do some .NET CF coding for my Windows Mobile device for fun. Does that count?

Yeah, salads go well *with* lunch.

Nuts and cheese, and maybe more veggies than just lettuce? I think that was my big mistake -- this was a salad without anything IN it. :-)

Yep, there are loads of snacks around. I'll be okay as soon as I get past my stupid insistence that I shouldn't be hungry and go eat some.

Sure! I'm hoping to go native rather than .NET but I have (so far) zero clue about what I'm doing.

I'm trying to figure out how to get started at all. Is there some DevStudio plugin or something I should go fetch?
Tuesday, July 24th, 2007 12:34 am (UTC)
Exactly. Unless they have lots of Stuff in them, where lettuce does not count as Stuff.

Protein, protein, protein. If you skimp on protein, you WILL be hungry later.

Nuts, cheese, bacon, tofu, pancetta, tuna, chicken ... gotta have some kind of protein to give your body something to process other than light carbs, which cause a (comparatively) quick peak and drop in blood sugar levels...

No kidding.

One friend of mine says that salad is not food. It's what food eats.

Hope you find something soon.
Tuesday, July 24th, 2007 12:57 am (UTC)
Yeah, I'd be better off having had some protein. I know better should know better. :-)

If it hasn't got anything other than lettuce in it, it's not a salad! It's just... lettuce. Lettuce isn't food, it's crunchy water.

There were a few green peppers. Those are slightly crunchier water.

*passes the chickpeas, bac-os and olives*

i hope your next salad-meal is a little more meal-like. i'll let you have a nibble of my sheep's milk/black truffle cheese to go with it! :)

Most excellent! Thank you. Already I'm in a better position than I was after hours of reading this sort of stuff. If I can't yet tell you the difference between Windows Mobile 5.0, Windows CE, Windows Smartphone, etc, then I need to start at the very beginning!

Thanks! Mmmmm, CHEEEEESE. :)

OK, I'm stuck again and feeling like an idjit. May I pretty please pick your brain?

- If I write some managed code for a Windows Mobile device, can I then package my code and the .NET stuff itself into one installer, so there's a single-step install for it?

- If instead I go native, is there ANY way to embed an IE control or otherwise make my program run the browser? Something along the lines of system("run IE now on this URL"); would be great if I could get it. I'm OK with my app dying off once it reaches that point.
