Sounds awful. Sounds like if I'd been there, they'd'a had to cart me off to the asylum on landing.

Yeah, at one point Rob and I mentioned that you would not have been happy with this flight. It wasn't check-the-ceiling-for-dents awful, but heck, I like acro and *I* was getting tired of it. Bleah!

is the gas cap supposed to look like that?

Yecch. I thought seeing that in the car while driving was annoying enough.

Hah, yeah, we weren't best pleased -- especially since those caps cost a thousand bucks or so to replace. A quick stop at some random unattended strip of pavement fixed that easily enough though. We didn't even have to shut down, which at that density altitude with a hot turbocharged plane is a real win. (Quote: "Check that the other side is properly seated, too? Walk around the BACK of the plane.")

Walk around the BACK of the plane.

Important safety tip. Check. :-)

No kidding. Horrible to contemplate the failure mode the other way around.

Wasn't that in the first Indiana Jones movie?

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah yes, that's where I saw it. I knew it was gorily used in some action thingy.

Note: not good advice for pusher props. See also "Raiders of the Lost Ark".

Well, yeah, that's seems like a given. Know your plane.

Oooh. I'm glad you got home safe and sound!

Thanks! We're very lucky to have NEXRAD weather radar downloaded to a little handheld unit Rob has mounted to the yoke. It just paints precipitation, but that's good enough to let us avoid anything truly dangerous.

YIKES -- glad you got home safely!

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2007-07-10 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! It wasn't dangerous, just really really really annoying after a while.
