Good news, I think

Duchess is still not diabetic!

Well, we think that's the case. My vet's office has a new machine to test fructosamine from a blood sample, and this morning the reading came out a little higher than normal for that machine but a little lower than normal for lab results. They'll send the sample along to the lab just to see what's up with that, and in the meantime, I keep acting like she's in remission.

I love that cats go into remission of diabetes. This is her second, and this time it's been months now. Yay for no needles!

(She did have TWO ingrown claws though. Right into the pads. Owie! All cleaned up now.)

Yay! That's great news.

Thanks! It's a relief! I wonder if by the time she needs insulin again I'm going to have to buy new.

That's fabulous!

Want another cat? He's awfully nice!!!!

Awww... if it weren't that I already have THREE...! (I've even said no to kittens several times now, and I want a kitten SO MUCH. But three is enough.) Good luck, good luck, good luck! Any cat abandoned by a human deserves a really good home the second time around.

Good for Duchess!

I had a kitty whose claws would get ingrown. Ow. And they grew so fast that it was hard to keep up and prevent it from recurring.

I guess some are just prone to it. And yeah, it's hard to keep up with Duchess. She doesn't scratch as much as the other two. I do trim her claws (and she's very accepting about it) but man, if I forget... owie.

Yay Duchess!!!

Happy CJ! :)

yay Dutchess!! and yay CJ the kitty mommy! the boys and I are all very happy for you both, but they're a little concerned about that ingrown toenail thing. they said that sounds very unpleasant, and they're sending her extra noserubs plus catnip. 'nip makes everything better. :)

Those ingrown toenails look REALLY painful -- but she didn't seem to mind one bit when the vet tech clipped them and pulled the end out. She just sat there and purred, instead of yelping as she does if they try to clip a claw too short. So maybe those things just aren't as bad as they look. (How could that be, though? One of 'em even bled quite a bit! My poor kitty!)

I'm glad I had them do the nails. Last time I had to dig out one of Duchess' ingrown claws I got myself all worked up and nervous over it!

I hope things keep going well for you and Dutchess!

Thanks! and ***HI!!*** :) How are you doing these days?

Wonderful news!

I hope Oberon will be so lucky. He looks much better on the meds, and has gained half a pound already. I'm happy for your Kitton!

It's such good news when they can gain a little weight -- that means they're able to do something with the food!

Congrats to Duchess for being in remission and congrats to you for being such a good kitty mommy.

Thanks! I think it's luck more than good kitty-mommying, but hey, I'll take it.
