For the first time in my life a person with a measuring tape helped me with bra fitting. It's official: I am closest to 30G, and some 32Fs will work (though they'll have a short lifespan). Several 32Fs were bearable enough that I bought them; one 30G is on order for me and will arrive in a week or so.

Nordstrom's rocks. Title Nine does not even remotely compare. Victoria's Secret might as well be a grocery store.

Do you read djmrswhite? He wrote last year about taking his mom (who had had a stroke) to Neiman-Marcus in Dallas. N-M is another high-end store and they had the good sense to measure his mom.

I think this is a quality of life issue, and you have apparently discovered that in this instance, you really do get what you pay for.

I heart Nordstrom. Their stuff is so durable and well made- I still have a suit and a wonderful pair of pants from the mid-90s that are still in good shape.

They also have an AMAZING shoe department. It's really the only non-speciality store I know of that carries women's shoes in a variety of widths.

They seem to be willing to focus on getting the customer what the customer wants to buy. It's impressive. Too bad they tend to be in malls, but I could really get to like that place.

We are one freeway exit down from Nordstrom Rack, their big outlet store. The Teva leather sanadals I got to walk all over Boston in two years ago came from there, cheap, and they walked me (with the help of opiates) all over SF today, and have walked me as much as I walk for two years now, and are still comfy and show almost no wear.

Nordstrom has expensive stuff, but fort clothing that needs to be high quality, like shoes and bras, they're the only way.

I don't understand cheapo shoes. Either they don't last, or they're uncomfortable and I don't wear them, so in either case, they're not worth it, they're no bargain. But my feet are about as picky as CJ's boobs.

I purchased some bras from Nordstrom that didn't hold up - they took them back no question asked.

I'm glad you had a good experience: ill-fitting clothing is never any fun. I'm sure it's a million times worse for women, too. My darling aiglet (who also is a somewhat difficult to fit size) suggests this place (http://figleaves.com/), too.

I got the bra to wear under my wedding dress at figleaves and was happy with it/them. I did, however, already know what size I needed.

One of these days, once I am not nursing for a while and no longer in in nursing bras, I should go to Nordstom's to be re-fitted (boob size and proportion has changed a lot due to pregnancy, nursing and my bizarro weight loss). Thanks for the review. I find a lot of stores don't carry past a D cup and being larger than a D it makes it more difficult to find good bras.

I wonder if Nordie has recently begun a push for proper bra-fitting? My mother told me a very similar story about 2 weeks ago: she's now wearing *3* cup-sizes larger than she had been.

I know that I went on a campaign to find the proper brassiere a couple of years ago (and I posted about it). Most fitting-advice is WRONGWRONGWRONG because they tell you to measure your ribs and then add inches to that for your bra size. NOOOOO. You measure your ribs and THAT IS YOUR BRA SIZE.

I went from being 36C to being 32F or G in about 5 minutes. *g* And as someone else notes, it's really hard to find anythign over a D or sometimes DD. We had to get my bras from England for awhile, from a place where they'd be $50-$60 *on sale*. (Then I changed my diet, lost some weight, and now I'm 32DD.)

That's totally what showed up in my fittings, too. The helpful woman measured me at thirty and said I'd therefore be a 32, but then I tried them on -- a good dozen or more -- and they were all too big in the band. Surprise!

However, she also said that if you can get a 32 to work you'd better go for that, because 30 is so limiting. So I get to buy (mostly) 32s and ditch them after half their useful life. I deeply hate clothing manufacturers.

The other WRONGWRONGWRONG is most women are (raise your hand if you're surprised) wearing too big a band and too small a cup. I've known that for YEARS, but where the @#$! do you find something with a smaller band and larger cup than 32DD? GRRRRRRRRRR.

Note that figleaves.com is an English company, btw. They may be where my bras came from too. (Bean has been needing English bras for years now.)

I've been referred to them before, yeah. If I could a) try several on in person and b) get serious underwire concrete-construction flying-buttress support, I'd be so there. (I refer to the latter as my "driving over a speed bump" test. I want to be able to keep my hands on the wheel. :-) )

Hmmm. Think I'll try Nordstrom, too, when they open the Burlington store.

Of course, I have an extra consideration that complicates the bra selection process: I'm nursing! :-) That adds two or three cup sizes, plus the obvious access-point issue... oh, and temporary weight gain goes with the territory, so the band size will be different from my usual. Gah. Just when I thought I'd figured out what my actual bra size was!

It's possible that your after-weaning cup size will be different than your pre-pregnancy size, right? Will you need an assortment: During Pregnancy, While Nursing, and Later? :-)

Apparently there's a store coming soon in Natick, too. Don't know which is closer for you.
