Title creation test

Ooo. If I begin typing my post in the portal, fill in the title there, then click "More Options", I get the broken update page with my title filled in. I can't edit the title any more, but at least it's THERE. Let's see if it's THERE enough to post.

Hat tip to [livejournal.com profile] wcg for the idea. Thanks, Bill!

If I were a web hacker I'd have a Greasemonkey script to fix this asshattery by now. Never before, and never on any site but LiveJournal, have I so strongly considered putting the time in to learn Web 2.0 / AJAX / etc. Other sites just don't make it seem necessary, somehow.

Can you run a client like Semagic?

I finally gave in and switched to Horizon because I was fed up with that and other problems. The reality is that Horizon is the only scheme that's actually supported. It's unfortunate that LJ offers the option of using unsupported schemes without making it clear that they're unsupported.

On the other hand, it's probably ultimately a good thing that LJ is mildly quirky and user-unfriendly. Otherwise, the kids who have made MySpace into what it is today would probably be here instead.

One other thing about Dystopia, from my Blackberry, I don't use Semagic, just the 'update' thing-y in the web browser, and I haven't had any trouble at all with that.

Wow, I shouldn't hit 'enter' that quickly. The punctuation on that is just wrong.

I guess I've never paid any attention to what theme I use. It turns out to be Dystopia, which looks fine to me and works without problem.

Dystopia was the default long ago (back when you joined?). It's no longer supported, so you're in the same boat I'm in, just currently luckier.

where do you find out if a theme is supported or not?

Best I can tell, from other LJ users who have asked support about something and been brushed off.
