If I begin typing my post in the portal, fill in the title there, then click "More Options", I get the broken update page with my title filled in. I can't edit the title any more, but at least it's THERE. Let's see if it's THERE enough to post.
I finally gave in and switched to Horizon because I was fed up with that and other problems. The reality is that Horizon is the only scheme that's actually supported. It's unfortunate that LJ offers the option of using unsupported schemes without making it clear that they're unsupported.
On the other hand, it's probably ultimately a good thing that LJ is mildly quirky and user-unfriendly. Otherwise, the kids who have made MySpace into what it is today would probably be here instead.
