House In Order, day 8

Quicken updated (cash reconciled). Bills paid and mailed. I am usually good at procrastinating bills. Not this month! Ha!

Clutter is delayed decisions. I took every piece of my mail today, offers and catalogs and what-have-you, and pitched it. Decisions MADE. Clutter GONE. It's surprisingly freeing.

So how come your mood is always 'sore?' New, for-cause sore, or general, every-day sore?

I always have a few strata left of clutter. Just can't quite get to the bottom. And the things that are hanging around are the things I genuinely don't know where to place, which is why they're laying around instead of filed. Then I'll go on a filing, tossing frenzy, but I still hit that bottom core of crap that I can't throw out and I don't know where to put...

Girl doom sore. Bad the last few days. Dear Lord, we thank You for the blessings of naproxen sodium, Amen.

I've heard that last layer called "pile germs". Piles of paper grow, piles shrink, piles get distilled down to their hard-core essences... and at the last stage they're only the things you have no idea what to do with. But pile germs breed, and pretty soon, FWOOMF you have a big pile of schtuff that's grown from those germs. I wonder if I could make a folder and label it "pile germs". Everything I don't know where to put goes there.

Huh. Girl doom. For 20 years, I was on the Pill, and had no issues. Now I got issues. But Advil does the trick...

Pile germs. Hmmm... Sounds like an infected part of the anatomy... ;)

The Pill used to bring the pain level down to the point where I would only dream of suicide. O'course, now that I'm on it continuously (no break once a month) *and* on a hormone-dispensing IUD, Aleve does the trick for me too. Mostly.

Yeah, "pile germs" does sound rather awful!

Wow, you reconcile your cash too? You and I are the only people I know who do that.

Interesting idea that "clutter is delayed decisions". Yes, some of it certainly is. It would be interesting to compile of a list of other things that Clutter Is...

I bet the Flylady has a list.

OK, never mind the link. Cut and paste is no longer working on my machine. GRR.

Yep, I read "Your Money or Your Life" and was captivated by some of the ideas there. One of them didn't appeal but they were very insistent about it: track every cent you spend. I had to admit I could see why they wanted that. So I started, figuring I'd get to the rest of the plan later. Except I didn't. :-)

Clutter books are great for little gems like that. Another one I found recently was "Clutter is what's in my way when I'm looking for something else." I like that one a lot, myself!
