cjsmith: (swimming cat)

I have permission!

I got permission to use the swimming cat image! I promised I would tell people where I got it:

http://www.swimmingcats.com

It's right there on the front page. The cat pictured is a Turkish Van, and I must tell you I am jonesing for a Van right now. :-)

I also said I'd credit the site. I've put a comment on the userpic, so that anyone who's looking at my userpics will see that. LJ doesn't let me give the image any alt text, does it?

I'm pretty sure this permission does not automatically extend to everyone. But feel free to ask. The web site owner was very nice about my query!

Turkish Van cats are weird all right. Cats that like water? Are we SURE they're not dogs in disguise? :-)

NEVER got the letter from the cat union.

It's amazing how cats can cheer me up! Even pictures of cats!

Wonderful, wonderful picture! :-)

Ooo, is that Charlie? (Now I'm paranoid that I have his name wrong...)

[identity profile] jtidwell.livejournal.com 2006-02-02 01:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep! That's Charlie after a bath in the sink. :-) He happily sticks his head under the running stream of water, so he ends up with a "part" in his head feathers. It's hilarious. But swimming? Never in a million years!

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2006-02-02 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Does he like being blow-dried? An LJ friend of mine has birds of various kinds and all of 'em seem to love that part of having a bath.

[identity profile] jtidwell.livejournal.com 2006-02-02 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, he does, actually. At first, he always makes a big show out of hating the blow dryer, but once he feels the warm air blowing on his little feets, he relaxes and enjoys it. (Unless, of course, the Evil Blow Dryer comes too close... then he gets all aggressive again!)

I think tropical birdies really enjoy warm air when they're wet and cold. Some of the louder parrots probably love the noise, too.

I bet he's *adorable* when he's enjoying the warm air. Heck, he's pretty cute all wet from the sink!
