Noise: tok tok tok
Rob: Was that you or the dog?
Me: Yes.
Pause.
Rob: Was it you XOR the dog?
Me: No.
Rob: Was it you AND the dog?
Me: Yes.

You and/or Rob should play Zendo. ;-D

P.S.: If you don't already, that is.

Oh, my. Rob and my Danny are twins. That's exactly what he'd do to me!
Thursday, December 29th, 2005 10:29 pm (UTC)
That third question is clearly unnecessary.

Thank you for the giggle :)

I claim being sick as my excuse.

I'm beginning to think that Randy and I should ask you and Rob over for dinner (we'll go somewhere that has breakfast items!), just so you and I can observe Rob & Randy together at close range.

If Randy were a computer geek, that's PRECISELY what he'd do with me. The only difference is normally it's Randy being exceptionally literal, and me having to find the correct logical question to produce the answer I'd originally intended. Excepting computer/electronic logic terminology, that's precisely what randy does to me all the time.

Allan: Randy, could you please hand me the stapler?
Randy: Yes, I could.
Allan: *sigh* Randy, please hand me the stapler.
Randy: Which one?
Allan: *sigh* *sigh* Randy, please hand me THAT stapler. NOW.
Randy: (Hands over stapler without a moment's hesitation.)

Recently, Randy's been finding great amusement in my turning the tables on him.

Randy: Allan, could you hand me the wooden spoon from tne counter?
Allan: [smugly] What's the magic word?
Randy: [darkly] Now.
Allan: [cheerfully] Nope! Wrong magic word. Try again?
Randy: [straining his voice only slightly] Allan, could you PLEASE hand me THAT wooden spoon from THAT counter, NOW?
Allan: [very cheerfully] I sure COULD, dear. Just as soon as you ask me.

Just because Randy's a car geek, doesn't mean he isn't a [logical] geek.

If you do, I want the recordings for my library. Randy and Rob alone will be great. But to hear you try not to interfere with the overall effect...

I don't know what it is, but if that conversational snippet sparked a reminder of it, I bet we'd like it!

*chuckle* You have to admit, I asked for it with my first answer.

Geekiest Response Comment! Ding! :-)

YES! I want the recording too!

Oh man. Randy and Rob and you and me (I certainly don't claim I wouldn't do exactly the same thing)... that would be hilarious.
Saturday, December 31st, 2005 02:42 pm (UTC)
I like saying "ICMP_ECHOREPLY". (Some folks where I live use "ping" as a verb in casual conversation.) Yay geek humor!
Saturday, December 31st, 2005 02:42 pm (UTC)
Thanks! The two of us go together pretty well. :)
Saturday, December 31st, 2005 02:43 pm (UTC)
You were really not doing so well, yeah. :-(
Saturday, December 31st, 2005 02:43 pm (UTC)
Y'welcome! I love sharing that sort of thing on LJ.
Saturday, December 31st, 2005 06:26 pm (UTC)
Oh, yeah, I ping people all the time. Some even reply with "This host is alive"

::hangs head in shame:: ;-)

Oh yes. We're all sisters and brothers in the shame of being geeks! :-)
