Rob has by now safely landed in Louisville, and I'm sitting here in the calm and the quiet, drinking a buttery nipple, playing Minesweeper without flags, and intermittently adding new things to my to do list. Little Girl occasionally messes up my Minesweeper game by butting her head against my elbow.

I love the peace. It's wonderful to have some time when I'm not around anybody. I don't know how introverts will survive a few thousand years from now in the world of Soylent Green. They'll probably knowingly volunteer for the "relocation."

I'm learning great life lessons from Minesweeper. When you've got a lot to do, do the easy stuff first. The hard stuff just might vanish!

I finally finished my online shopping. Dear Lord, who shops in person any more? First of all, they'd have to be able-bodied enough to go to a mall. Then they'd have to have a LOT of free time in case the first few stores they visited were crowded, didn't have what they needed, or had long lines. They'd have to live near the people they're giving gifts to, or if they're getting on six planes in the next ten days like I am, they'd have to be willing to do the packing and shipping themselves (see also that bit about free time). Who the heck is THAT relaxed and has THAT little to do AND isn't traveling, at this time of year? I want to meet them. I will then steal their parking place because I need it more.

Anyway, I'm feeling pretty good about that shopping thing. I got in just under the wire and didn't have to ship anything second day air, not anything at all. Yay me!

I am also nicely and lightly and genteelly drunk. You may all make fun of this entry so that when I see it and its comments tomorrow I am mortified.

Minesweeper without flags? You're danged brave, woman!

The only difficulty is you can't do the magic thing where you click on the number that's "full" and have it zorch all remaining squares around that number. (I can't even remember how that magic thing is done, it's been so long since I've used flags.) Keeping track isn't really that hard after the first coupla games.

You're such a *genteel* drunk. You could be out in the backyard practicing the digeridoo badly at 11:30pm, but ARE YOU? NO!
Wednesday, December 21st, 2005 07:51 am (UTC)
That would be pretty bad. I don't even know which end of a digeridoo to play when I'm sober. By near-midnight with some drink in me, I'd probably figure it should be nasally fitted and it would sound wonderfully harmonious with a car horn and an untrained soprano voice.

Dayum, woman. Pour me a buttery nipple and I'll be right over. I can even bring cheese.

Bring all the Christmas carols you have that are arranged for digeridoo, horn, and two voices (one with nasal obstruction).

Couldn't find any. Will have to make do with the arrangements for nose flute, banjo, and two drunks.

That'll have to do. I think a bunch of rubber bands across the microwave oven door will sound a little like a banjo.

Don't forget, you also have to live within a reasonable distance to a mall.

Hey, I wanna be nicely drunk!!

Hey, I wanna be nicely drunk!! <Drunk envy!> I'm on antibiotics for this damned sinus crap for the next month, and I'm not supposed to indulge. What a crappy time to be on antibiotics! Rondo brought home some lovely madeira last night, too.</Drunk envy>

Flags are for wimps.

s/mall/store of any kind/

Yeah, you can always be drunk if you're willing to skip your meds. I, for example, have given up on about six types of painkillers. I can certainly understand why you're sticking with the antibiotic regime, though!

WOOHOO, another no-flag player!

I'm trying to get as many presents as possible at my favorite anti-store -- NOTWalmart. But it is a small town, and there are few shopping places, so I've gotten more from Walmart than I care to admit. There is no good electronics store, there is no general store. Well, there's the hardware store, which doubles as a general store, but a general store in the old sense -- everything you'd need for your house, plus some penny candy. Nice kitchen stuff, nice Christmas decorations, for example. Very few games -- just the marbles and the old-fashioned wagons.

There is a small mall in Shreveport, 60 min away, and a large mall in Alexandria, 70 min away. But I'm too damned lazy to drive all that way...

Cute little bookstore here, but it has only a small collection, and no new comic books at all. (Some Calvin and Hobbes and some Far Side. None of my favorites. No Spiderman in the whole town! Waaaaa!!) I know the owner, but I'm starting to get used to that, as there are several shops whose owners I know!

Poor you and pain meds. :-( Are there any you're still taking? How are those poor feet?

I'm determined to do the antibiotics for all 28 days. I already feel loads better, but I felt loads better after the 10 day course, and then it came right back. And, if this doesn't kick it, it's roto-rooter time, and I'd like to avoid that if all possible. If I have to undergo it, do you think I can get them to use general anesthesia? That's not something I really want to stay awake for.

The flags just slow me down. Extra clicks, doncha know. I'll still use the flags when doing the super large ones, though, because I do lose track!

Online ordering was MADE for you! :-)

I'm not taking any at the moment, although I've got two prescriptions filled and I simply haven't bothered to try them yet. It's kind of strange that I'm waiting. I suppose it's that I don't want to bother if they're not going to work, and nothing ELSE works, so... I wonder why I got them filled. That cost money.

I'm glad you're sticking with the full 28 days. What procedure is the "roto-rooter"? Rob's had turbinate reduction surgery while awake, but apparently that one's not too bad.

If you're using the flags, then you can simultaneously click both buttons on a "complete" number to expose the now-known safe area. I used to be quite the Minesweeper addict, but hadn't played in years until a couple of seconds ago (to confirm that dual-click move). No flags seems like it would slow you down a lot!

Ah, THAT'S it!

For me, it's not the time spent clicking, it's the time spent thinking. But that also makes it more fun. It all works out. :-)

Hee, just reading this now!

*wave* Hi! Hey, answer my address query pretty please? I've got a card that just says "Wen" on it so far! :-)
